The dark side of the world, spray paint on world map, 2016

(ENG 🇬🇧) In 2016, for the Treccani Institute of the Italian Encyclopedia in Rome, Eron painted a piece dedicated to migrants on the remains of a boat wreck. The piece was titled “Soul of the Sea” and depicted faces of women and children that seemed to emerge from the rust of the boat itself. Pictures of this piece went viral and both The Economist and The Chicago Tribune published it as the best picture of the day in the world.

(ENG 🇬🇧) “Lampedusa European Champion” is the work that Italian artist Eron dedicated to Pietro Bartolo, the Lampedusa doctor who rescued thousands of desperate migrants who search for a safe place where to live and often die while crossing the Mediterranean Sea. In 2016, the artist reproduced the Trophy of the Italian football league replacing its engraving with the inscription “Lampedusa European Champion” and its emblem with a lifebuoy. Eron’s genius transformed the Trophy into a sort of amphora rusted by the sea; what is more, we can see the rust streaming down the pedestal and creating the portrait of the doctor. On 22 February 2019, during a public meeting between the doctor and the citizens of Santarcangelo di Romagna – RN (Italy), Eron decided to give the artwork to Pietro Bartolo as a token of gratitude for his hard work.
